Sensory Room
We have placed some of the funds raised into an account on her behalf and have been working on a “snoozleen” therapy room for her.
We have also found a wonderful person~ Bridget, of “Murals by Bridget”, who has done some beautiful work all on her own time. We have worked close together to make Mackayla’s room as tactile, therapy as possible.
Everything in her room is different textures and scents, with a Princess castle made of stone paint and an apple tree with life like bark and scratch and sniff apples to pick off. An amazing garden with fake/ life like flowers and painted scratch and sniff ones, so she can have the benefit of being able to touch them as well as smell them. We had a great man, Bill, and his carpet company, B&B Flooring, donate the entire carpet. The carpet is two different textures with a winding walkway to her apple tree.
Mackayla loves her room, she loves it when her big brother Justin brings her upstairs and plays with her. We had Justin label her entire room in Braille, to get her used to the touch of it.
